Trip Focus: Construction, Children's & Adult Ministry.
OHC teams serve among the Quiche people in the beautiful mountain areas of Chichicastenango, where OHC Minister Pat and Carol Hile and their family served as full-time missionaries. We partner with rural churches and leaders from the Hile's time there and with Missions Frontier, an organization that partners with local pastors to provide relief efforts and developmental projects. We will construct village homes for Quiche widows and families in need, and will share the hope of Jesus with children and adults through Biblical dramas, worship, crafts, and activities.
Guatemala Itinerary:
June 16: Flight departs early from San Antonio; travel by bus to the mountain areas of Chichicastenango.
June 17-19: Children's ministry & widow home construction alongside local Quiche leaders.
June 20: Day off in Chichicastenango, where we experience an open-air market day.
June 21: Village outreach with children's ministry & widow home construction.
June 22: Depart to visit Lake Atitlan and overnight in Antigua.
June 23: Early morning departure by land to Guatemala City airport. Arrive in San Antonio late evening.
Trip Details:
Trip Cost: $2,300. Land cost is $1,400; all-inclusive: meals, lodging, transportation, insurance, interpreters, sightseeing, supplies, etc. Airfare cost is $900; OHC MUST arrange all Airfare travel.
Lodging: Casa Del Rey Hotel, located in the mountains overlooking Chichicastenango. Double or triple occupancy room with bath, hot showers, a large sitting room area and fireplace. Breakfast & dinner at hotel. Dinner is buffet-style, including soup, salad, main course, and dessert.
Team Meetings: We will have several required Team meetings prior to our trip, focusing on building team unity, learning about the culture, and ministry planning.
